Vince sent me a bunch of pics and some vids to try to convince me to buy a fixed gear bike since Derrick and himself each own one now. He keeps on telling me "just buy one! come on... summertime man!" Don't get me wrong, I DO want to buy one.. I just can't right now. maybe next year. I have to admit.. his repetitive egging on type tactics are slowly breaking the shield of my wallet... albeit that shield is as thin as tracing paper.
A couple months ago my friends Vince and Matt had the opportunity to present some of their work and thoughts at this Pecha Kucha event. This event included other artists, photographers, interior decorators, architects, designers, etc.. you get the point. Each presenter had 20 slides with 20 seconds each to speak of them. Check out this vid that Bruce Sharpe of 25 Hour Day produced. Its really well done.
First up, we've got Spaceships a Kanye CLASSIC. He directed this video 4 years ago, but elected not to release it because he wasn't satisfied with it. Man, its true what he says.. he forgets things better than we can think of.
Growing up I participated in a bunch of different sports; basketball, badminton, tennis, volleyball, just to name a few. Each one affecting or inspiring me in many different ways, but I realized there would always be this one common ground. This one universal feeling of striving to become better, learning, working at it, and then eventually achieving those goals. Like looking up at the 10 foot hoop, visualizing myself leaping, flying up there with ball in hand, throwing it down and grabbing that rim hanging, savouring it for just a moment. I would look up and say to myself, "one day Rich, one of these days it'll happen." ...
These types of accomplishments for me, these "days of flight" certainly don't happen everyday. In fact when they do happen, it always happens in a flash and then its over.
